Modartis was born from the evolution of HIM Co RTW, a historic name in Italian prêt-à-porter, now relaunched thanks to its acquisition by Castor Fashion and Tec Collezioni. The company inherits the prestigious legacy of Gibò, founded in 1960, which in the 1970s and 1980s produced garments for iconic fashion houses such as Giorgio Armani, Moschino, and Jean Paul Gaultier.
In 1990, Gibò became part of the Japanese group Onward Holding Ltd, acquiring licenses for major international brands such as Marc Jacobs, Michael Kors, Viktor & Rolf, Helmut Lang, John Galliano, and Alexander McQueen. In 2005, Gibò merged with Iris, a leading footwear company, to form Onward Luxury Group, which was later acquired by High Italian Manufacturing (HIM Co) in 2021.
A new name for a new identity—one that preserves the company’s founding values: quality, creativity, and technical expertise at the service of international fashion. At the heart of every collection and project under the HIM name has always been Italian excellence, with its artisanal approach and its ability to combine aesthetics and function. This distinctive signature is now being renewed with Modartis, in response to the challenges of a constantly evolving global market, while staying true to the authenticity of its roots.
The new name, Modartis, perfectly encapsulates its vision: a fusion of fashion and art, complementary expressions of beauty, research, and innovation. “Modartis” reflects the expertise and know-how gained through decades of experience in the fashion industry, along with the belief that each garment is a creation that communicates, interprets, and inspires—just like art.
Today, Modartis is a trusted point of reference for brands seeking a reliable, creative, and flexible partner—capable of supporting every phase of product development with tailored craftsmanship, advanced technology, and a contemporary vision.
The Modartis headquarters tells a story of evolution, vision, and care for the workplace. Its architecture developed in two main construction phases, each with distinct characteristics and purposes, reflecting the company’s transformation over time.
The first structure, built in the 1970s, followed a purely industrial logic: it housed the warehouse for raw materials, the storage area for finished products, and all the production rows equipped with sewing machines and ironing systems. It was a functional layout, designed for operational efficiency, and it still serves today as the logistical heart of the building.
The second phase, completed in the early 1980s, transformed the facility into a space that blends functionality, aesthetics, and a strong focus on people’s well-being. Conceived and personally designed by then-owner Mr. Gigi Pozzi and his wife Mrs. Giovanna Montrasio Pozzi (known to everyone as Gio Pozzi), this front extension was inspired by an architectural vision deeply influenced by a trip to Japan. From that journey, they drew inspiration to create bright spaces, surrounded by greenery and infused with an almost zen-like atmosphere. Though an architect was involved for bureaucratic aspects, the entire concept—from material choices to spatial layout—was born from the sensitivity and intuition of the Pozzi family. The widespread use of wood adds warmth and hospitality, transforming the plant into more than just a workplace: it becomes a welcoming space, ideal for receiving clients and suppliers in a calm and relaxed environment.
Today, the Modartis facility perfectly embodies the company’s identity: a balance between functionality and style, between manufacturing tradition and a focus on people’s well-being. It successfully combines manufacturing know-how with an aesthetic inspired by a culture of detail, light, and quality.
